Riftbound Radiance $5K Tournament Recap: A Full Day on the Rift
Just two days after Riftbound: Radiance's release, 401 Games Vaughan was packed with players ready to put the new set to the test at our Riftbound Radiance $5K Tournament!
With 128 players, a $5,000 prize pool, and a full day of competitive Riftbound ahead, you could feel the excitement before the first match even started.
And players definitely showed up early and ready to play.
The Day Started Early
The tournament officially began at 11 AM, but things were already getting busy well before Round 1. Check-in started at 10 AM, and a line quickly formed as players arrived and got ready for the day ahead.
With 128 players taking part, it didn't take long for the play area to fill up. Once everyone was seated and Round 1 got underway, tables across the store were packed with Riftbound matches.
128 Players Ready to Compete
With 128 players competing, the day promised a long run of competitive Riftbound.
Once the tournament got underway, players battled their way through round after round, each match bringing them one step closer to the top. Throughout the day, the store was filled with matches, deck discussions, players checking results between rounds, and plenty of Riftbound action.
For anyone who couldn't make it to Vaughan, 401 Games also streamed some of the action live on our YouTube channel, letting viewers at home follow along.
$5,000 in Prizes on the Line
Of course, more than bragging rights were at stake. With a $5,000 prize pool on the line and 128 players competing, there was plenty to play for throughout the day.
From the opening matches onward, players battled their way through the tournament, hoping to make it to the top and take home a share of the prize pool.
With so many players in the room, the competition stayed strong throughout the event.
Radiance Arrives at the Perfect Time
The timing made this tournament particularly exciting. Riftbound: Radiance had officially released on October 23, just two days before the tournament.
That meant players stepped into a major competitive event at the start of a brand-new set.
Radiance introduces new cards and mechanics like Deploy, Show Off, and Disarm, giving players new strategies to explore and plenty of reasons to rethink their decks. Throughout the event, we also saw some of the cards players had already added to their collections.
There were definitely a few cards worth showing off!
More Than Just the Matches
A tournament this size isn't only about what happens across the table.
With 128 Riftbound players in one place, the day was also a chance for the community to hang out, talk decks, show off cards, watch matches, and spend a full day surrounded by people who enjoy the same game.
From the line forming before the tournament began to the packed tables once Round 1 started, it was great to see so many players come together for one big day of Riftbound.
Whether you were playing through the rounds, watching the action from the sidelines, following the livestream, or just checking out what everyone was playing, there was always something happening around the store.
