Short Summary of Each Class:
Painting NMM and Skin Tones:
Painting realistic skin tones and convincing non-metallic metals doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. In this class, students will explore approachable techniques that simplify these advanced concepts while building confidence and brush control. Using methods such as glazing and stippling, alongside Vallejo’s BSL painting system, participants will learn how to create smooth transitions, rich textures, and dynamic contrast on their miniatures.
All supplies will be provided, including a miniature, paints, brushes, wet palettes, cups, and hobby holders. Participants are welcome to bring their own tools and materials if they prefer, though it is not required.
Light, Shadow, and Textures:
Painting your first bust or large-scale miniature can feel intimidating, but this class is designed to help you approach these projects with confidence. Together, we will explore techniques for planning and painting larger models, with a focus on understanding light placement, shadow mapping, and creating strong visual contrast. Students will also be introduced to foundational color theory concepts and practical methods for adding texture and realism to bring their pieces to life.
All supplies will be provided, including a miniature bust, paints, brushes, wet palettes, cups, and hobby holders. Participants are welcome to bring their own tools and materials if they prefer, though it is not required.
