Early civilizations shaped our world by solving puzzles. Faced with a problem, they were able to visualize and execute a creative solution with few resources. These brilliant innovations are the foundations of our modern society and the mark of true genius.
Nestled near the banks of the Nile River, an ancient temple chapel dedicated to the goddess Osiris was once home to the Dendera Zodiac. Archaeologists uncovered this spectacular round ceiling mosaic and realized that despite the artistic renderings, the mosaic represented a mostly accurate depiction of the ancient Egyptian night sky. The Dendera Zodiac centered on the north pole, which was depicted as a jackal, but was surrounded by other well known constellations of the zodiac.
In 1802 it was removed from its temple site in Egypt to Paris, where it now resides in the Louvre Museum.
Goal: Navigate both of the ball bearings from their respective start to finish through the constellations of the ancient night sky.
