The F-16C Fighting Falcon is a tactical fighter aircraft developed from the F-16A PLUS. From the time the F-16 was adopted by the U.S. Air Force, improvements were made based on the Multi-Stage Improvement Program (MSIP). In the F-16C, the radar fire control system was upgraded from APG-66 to APG-68, improving target search and identification capabilities. In addition, it became possible to simultaneously attack multiple targets with the new AIM-120 (AMRAAM) missile, significantly improving air combat capabilities. The engine bay has been modified to accommodate either the Pratt & Whitney F-100 or the General Electric F-110 engine. Visually, a major distinguishing feature is the extended, significantly bulging vertical stabilizer root housing the ECM equipment. Deliveries of the Block 50/52 aircraft began in October 1991 and featured an Improved Performance Engine (IPE), which increased its maximum output and thus enhanced its maneuverability. Deliveries of the Block 50/52 aircraft from May 1993 onwards were also able to be fitted with the AN/ASQ-213HTS (HARM Targeting System) pod on the right side of the intake, enabling them to perform the mission of Operation Wild Weasel, which involves detecting and attacking enemy air defense radars and other targets.
