Based on the Tiger I hull, it came armed with a giant 38cm rocket launcher, a distinctive piece that had originally been developed by the German navy for anti-submarine use and could fire its mammoth 30kg, 149cm shells up to 4,600 meters. 18 Sturmtigers were produced between August and December 1944, with a few of the earliest being thrown almost immediately into action in Poland that August.
