There have been several expansions to BGG-Top-Ten game Terraforming Mars, but we think none deliver more replayability-for-your-buck than Prelude.
Consisting of a mere 48 cards and a tiny rulesheet, TM: Prelude adds another layer of decision-making in the pregame setup. Along with choosing their starting corporation (and there are also five new ones to choose from) and starting Project cards, players now get to draw-four-and-keep-two from a deck of Prelude cards which all give sweet, sweet startgame bonuses. Some examples of Prelude bonuses are:
- Immediately play two water tiles for free;
- Increase plant production, energy production, and heat production by 1 and decrease income by 1;
- Draw (and keep) 3 project cards, increase your income by 1, and the card counts as one “wild” tag for all game purposes.
See what we mean? Prelude cards act to speed up the game by one or two generations--although that may not always translate to a shorter playing time, depending on the AP-ness of your gaming group.On top of all this, TM: Prelude adds another solo variant with different victory conditions and a new type of standard project. And all of this for sixteen bucks! What are you waiting for? Click here to order your copy now!
